Full Panic Mode
Here I am with 11 days to go til I’m in the sky. Made my plane reservations day before yesterday. Yesterday talked to my good friend Walter, who always asks lots of questions, which always annoys me. Don’t worry, he knows that already. Anyway, as a result of all those questions, I learned that in my haste to make reservations, I shouldn’t have used the close your eyes and pick a date on the calendar for my return ticket. Yup. You can only stay in Ecuador 90 days without needing a visa. I’m five days over, or thereabouts.
Probably won’t let me in the country when they see my return ticket, Walter says. The airline says it will cost $300 to change my ticket. Well, damn, I thought that’s what the insurance I bought was for. Huh-uh. So at least I didn’t go ahead and change the flight, but have e-mailed the Ecuadoran Consulate to see if I can get a visa ahead of time or if they’ll just let me in the country when they see I’m a little old lady who is not quite operating on all cylinders.
Do I start packing or continue to think that that will take care of itself?
You had better start packing! It will all work out!
